Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell, an American TV chef and the former Institute of Culinary Education instructor she is a popular TV host. Burrell hosts her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and is co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her trademark spiky blond tresses and her edgy personality on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, shares straightforward and simple techniques for home cooks. Chef Burrell has also worked at several of the most prestigious eateries in New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy and competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a youngster, growing up in the upstate area of New York, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step when she earned an Associate of Arts degree in English as well as Communications at Canisius College Buffalo NY. I enjoyed every moment during my time at The Culinary Institute of America she states. It was impossible to take enough out of it. Following graduation, Chef Burrell lived in Italy for a year, attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Additionally, she worked at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin star restaurant) located in Tuscany. While in Italy she came to be aware of the philosophy of Italian cuisine and culture which has had a profound impact in her perspective. Burrell is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that helps brighten the lives of kids who struggle. Additionally, she is an Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Celebrity Advocate in which she raises awareness about juvenile diabetics. She talks about her culinary passion and shares her knowledge of the culinary world when she travels throughout the US in both her roles as speaker and mentor. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has always said I feel very fortunate to share what I love most in life with others.
